Get out and about for Parks Week 2017

Friday 17 February 2017

Wellington Shire’s parks and open spaces will be brought to life next month with celebrations for Parks Week 2017.

Community groups and individuals from across the Shire will be hosting events from Friday 3 March to Sunday 12 March that will showcase not only many of our wonderful parks but also our superb array of open spaces.

Celebrations kick off on Friday 3 March from 5pm with Sale City Youth holding ‘Hawkeye’ in the Sale Botanic Gardens. This fun filled evening will include various activities and live music. Cinema Under the Stars at Heyfield Wetlands will also be screening the light-hearted family favourite Oddball.

"This year’s celebrations will have something for everyone, from a night under the stars watching a movie to an afternoon in the park full of live music," says Wellington Shire Council Mayor Carolyn Crossley.

"Every year Parks Week brings the community together whether it be through peoples love of our parks and open spaces or their support for a local community group hosting an activity.

"Sale Music Festival is always a great event and a guided tour at Tarra Bulga National Park is definitely worth attending to take in the beauty of our natural environment."

The celebrations conclude on Sunday 12 March with the Sale Music Festival at the Botanic Gardens and the Packhorse Ride from Port Albert to Rosedale. For more information on the events running during Parks Week 2017, visit, or check out Council’s event calendar on Council’s website,
