Designer dogs and their puppies seized in shocking conditions

Wellington Shire Council rescued 39 designer breed dogs and puppies from a rural property last week, after a tip-off from the public. The dogs and puppies were living in filthy, cramped conditions and were seized by local laws officers who are authorised under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986.

Port of Sale Temporary Closure (Sunday 15 July, 2018)

Maffra Solar Farm receives planning approval

Wellington Shire Council has approved a planning permit for the development of a $40m solar farm, located north of Maffra. The project applicant, ARP Australian Solar Pty Ltd, plans to construct the farm on a 63-hectare property located at 148 Brewers Hill Road.

Change of location for Sale immunisation sessions

Those accessing immunisation sessions through Wellington Shire Council should note the change of location. From 11 July 2018, the sessions will be held in the Carang Carang room at the new Port of Sale building, instead of the previous location in an ancillary building at Central Gippsland Health.

Wellington Shire Council has voted to freeze the prices for farmers selling cattle at the Gippsland Regional Livestock Exchange (GRLE). The prices will remain unchanged for the new financial year.
