Exploring the rich mythology of the everyday, the art of Sue Fraser is patently about people.
Her works are inspired by human encounters, enriched by a fascination with the narratives that are carried through generations in fairy tales, nursery rhymes and the mythology of individual families—not least her own.
Printmaking is the medium in which she explores and relates a lifetime of female experience—as a child, a mother, a friend and a wife. She uses the family as a springboard into her wry commentary about the world at large. In her latest instalment, Storylines, Fraser presents themes that—whether or not we know it—will be strangely familiar to us all.
