Helen Wright takes audiences into a universe of dreams where nothing is quite what it seems.
Her fantastical worlds propose a melding of a medieval past and a possible future, full of suggestion and intrigue. Her works range from bright hues and birdlife, through to darkly dystopian architectures that recall the demoninhabited interiors of Bosch and Piranesi.
Throughout this wild ensemble Tasmanian-based Wright maintains a balance of sorrow and humour, cast in a playful mix of painting, printing, sculpture and drawing. Hers is an art as an expression of life; of its loves, joys and agonies.
