Created specifically for Gippsland Art Gallery, Bill Henson: Dark Desire presents a selection of recent works from Australia’s pre-eminent photographic artist.
Dark Desire explores Henson’s use of darkness and light, and themes of lossand longing in the Australian landscape. The works alternate between landscape and figure subjects, inviting viewers to consider the relationship between the two.
This suite of large-scale photographic works will seduce viewers with their intoxicating beauty, with the recurrent theme of darkness used to alter perception and blur the line between reality and the unconscious.
Bill Henson: Dark Desire will be supported by a range of activities including an artist talk, a Bill Henson resource centre, and a major publication.
