Community Assistance Grants

Our Community Assistance Grants Scheme encourages the development of initiatives in the community in line with Council’s vision, Wellington 2030, and the Council Plan. It aims to build on community capacity, encourage participation in cultural development and support community initiatives that promote participation and working together to maintain our community assets.

Community Assistance Grant applications are made available for not for profit community groups looking for funding of $2,001 - $5,000 in the following categories:

 

Community Events

Applications will be considered for events that celebrate the community, or aspects of culture and identity. Applicants must aim to bring the community together to actively engage them in an event or activity.
There are two rounds of funding each year opening 13 January to 1 March and 15 June to 1 August.

Applications are currently CLOSED.

 

Community Projects

Applications will be considered for projects that fulfil a demonstrated community need and benefit the diverse community.
There are two rounds of funding each year opening 13 January to 1 March and 15 June to 1 August.

Community Facilities

Applications will be considered for minor capital works projects and maintenance on community facilities. Playing surface improvements and lighting projects are also considered to be capital works items. Built in or fixed equipment may also be considered for funding.

There is one annual grant round for facilities, opening 15 June and closing 1 August. Applications are currently CLOSED.

Quick Response Grants

We also have Quick Response Grants of up to $2,000 for Minor Community Events, Projects and Facilities. Funding for Individual Sponsorship is also available under this scheme.
