Wellington Youth Art Prize

Winners of the 2017 Wellington Youth Art Prize were announced on Thursday 1 June.

The Wellington Youth Art Prize showcases the diverse talents of Wellington's young artists. With a theme of Reflections, all artwork mediums were accepted, including painting, drawing, photography, digital art and sculpture. In its fifth year, the prize attracted more entries than ever before, with over 100 entries from young artists aged 12 to 25 years who live, study or work in Wellington Shire.

Entries were judged by East Gippsland visual artist Jes John and Latrobe Valley artist and educator Steph Shields.

The overall prize money was offered in three age categories - $200 for 12 to 14 years, $300 for 15 to 18 years, and $500 for 19 to 25 years.

The Wellington Youth Art Prize is a non-acquisitive prize generously sponsored by FReeZA and the Wellington Shire Youth Council.

Exhibition on display at the Maffra Exhibition Space, 150 Johnson Street, Maffra from 1 June to 24 July 2017.
